Along with sports and activities, the RecPlex hosts a variety of structured programs for people of all ages, from an introduction of sports to nutrition and virtual learning. We have programs for every season, so make sure to check back for new programs throughout the year.
NOTE: RecPlex programs/registration are available through the City of West Des Moines Parks & Recreation Department as part of their overarching programming. When you sign up for one of the programs listed below, you will be directed to the City of WDM website to register. Please scroll below the WDM Parks & Recreation Program Guides to begin registration. If this is the first time you or a family member has signed up for a WDM program, you will be asked to create an account prior to completing the registration process. Little Kickers Soccer League
Little Sports Leagues provide a fantastic coed league experience. Each week includes a 15-minute practice followed by a game, focusing on fun, learning, and
the importance of teamwork, socialization, and sportsmanship. Each player receives a reversible jersey with registration. We rely on volunteer coaches to make the
leagues thrive and encourage parents to co-coach to keep friends together.

Youth Dodgeball League
Dodge, dip, dive, duck, and dodge! Dodgeball fun awaits in this coed program. Each week, participants will explore different game styles while picking up helpful tips along the way. This program is a great way to have fun while developing teamwork, socialization, and sportsmanship skills.

Little Hoopers
Little Hoopers is a coed basketball league designed for children four to seven years old. Teams will practice for 15-20 minutes, followed by a game each week. Participants will be taught the basic fundamentals of basketball while learning the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Family Fright Night
Get ready for a spooktacular evening of Halloween fun at the RecPlex! Family Fright Night, presented by Stew Hansen Automotive Group, is a safe, family-friendly event featuring indoor trick-or-treating, games, inflatables, face painting, and more. Children can collect treats from creatively decorated vendor booths before exploring a variety of exciting activities throughout the indoor turf. Costumes are encouraged, and fun is guaranteed! Bring the whole family and celebrate Halloween
with an evening full of candy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
*All children must be accompanied and supervised by a registered adult; children under 2 are free.

Youth Tumbling
This beginner class introduces children to tumbling and gymnastics fundamentals. In a safe, fun environment, participants learn basic skills like rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and bridges. Classes focus on developing strength, flexibility, balance, and confidence, building a strong foundation for future gymnastics, cheerleading, or acrobatics.

Learn to Skate
Learn to skate using the Learn to Skate USA curriculum! Open to all ages and skill
levels, each session combines 30 minutes of instruction with 30 minutes of free
practice. Instructors evaluate progress for advancement opportunities, and lesson
times are assigned post-registration. Rental skates are included. Student-to-instructor
ratio is 12:1 (8:1 for Snowplow Sam).

Skate with Santa
Get into the holiday spirit at our jolliest event of the season! Join us on the ice for a magical evening of ice skating under the lights, festive music, and holiday cheer.
Glide, spin, and enjoy open skate time for all skill levels. Warm up with holiday treats, take a photo with Santa Claus himself, and enjoy a memorable night on the ice.

Brick Builder’s Club
Get ready to build, create, and imagine at our RP Brick Builders Club! This hands-on program is designed to inspire creativity and bring ideas to life through a variety of fun and engaging LEGO builds. Participants will have the opportunity to design their own unique creations while also taking part in friendly daily challenges and STEM-based activities that encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and imaginative thinking. Pokemon Club
If you are a fan of Pokemon®, this club is for you! Share your collection, chat, and create all things Pokemon®, and build your deck by trading cards with your fellow Pokemon® enthusiasts.
Bring your own cards to trade, and we will have some so you can learn all about trading and building your own deck! We will either watch a Pokemon® show or do a craft to conclude our program time.

Holiday Hoops Camp
Join Michael Born (Indiana Pacers Scout) for the annual Holiday Hoops Camp at the
RecPlex. This energetic 4-day coed camp features fundamental training, competitive

Preseason Basketball League
Get your squad back together and warm up your skills for the upcoming season!
Teams will play a three-game round-robin schedule in one of three divisions (A, B, and
C). All games will be overseen by certified high school officials and scorekeepers.
Division A is the most competitive, and Division C is the least competitive.
