The RecPlex’s Esports Center
The Esports Center features 30 state-of-the-art, water-cooled computers, six gaming consoles, and lounge seating, along with LED lighting and a premier sound system. This space will serve as a hub for the elite gamer, as well as those just learning the sport.

Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA)
MOBA is a type of strategy video game focused on teamplay and coordination. Each player controls a single character as part of a larger team that is working together to achieve the ultimate victory condition, typically destroying their enemy’s base whilst protecting their own.
First-person shooter (FPS)
This is a video game genre centered on fast reflexes and coordination with your teammates to accomplish a variety of objectives depending on the game. Gameplay typically revolves around gun and other weapon-based combat from a first-person perspective.
Digital collectible card games
An individual player will strategically construct a deck of cards that will allow them to outlast the deck constructed by their opponents to achieve victory.
This type is an online multiplayer video game genre that blends the survival, exploration, and scavenging elements of a survival game with last-man-standing gameplay. It is usually played between a large group of individual players, pairs of two players, or a small group that all vie to be the last remaining competitor.
Real-time strategy (RTS)
Individual players simultaneously control a multitude of structures and units under their command to destroy their opponent’s base. The gameplay is a strategic battle that involves planned strategies and quick adaptations to their opponent’s tactics.
Super Smash Bros Tournament
Our amateur Super Smash Bros™ Ultimate Tournament is the perfect way to work on that wave dash, make new friends in the local Smash community, and compete. Prizes are awarded to the top two players.
Played in a double elimination format.
Dates: September 13th-October 18th
5:00pm-6:30pm for Ages 8-12
6:30pm-8pm for Ages 13-17
Compete each week and show off your skills in our Fortnite™ Friday League. Players will drop in as a duo but compete separately for the most eliminations. Each week will consist of two rounds of games, with a best 2-out-of-3 format. The league will consist of five weeks of regular season play and an end-of-season double elimination tournament on the last week. All Fortnite™ games will be played on our PC computers. Players can bring their own Xbox or PS5 controllers, otherwise the RecPlex does have Xbox controllers participants can use. Headsets are also provided for each participant.

Playing Esports at the RecPlex
Gamers can play Esports during the drop-in hours for individual gaming, or groups or organizations can rent the Esports Center by the hour.
